Where do you stand?

This test only has one question, but it's a very important one.

By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember that your answer needs to be honest.

Please scroll down slowly and give due consideration to each line.

You are in Florida, Miami to be specific. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury. Suddenly you see a man floundering in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realize who it is. It's George W. Bush! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under...forever. You have two options: 1) you can save the life of G.W. Bush or 2) you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men.

So here's the question, and please give an honest answer:

Would you select high contrast color film, or... would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?

Chances are pretty good he's looking rather panicked. His facial expressions would likely be augmented by a high definition colour photograph. I can see it now, hung up on the wall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The unveiling of the picture, with me standing right beside it, proud.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed this exercise? hehe thanks for the laugh Annie!

Well,
Career or not, and Bush or not, a human life is at stake. Perhaps a experience like this is something Georeg W. needs to help him realize the value of human life, and also that when on of us is killed, we are essentially killing one of our brothers or sisters. As the leader of the Unites States (a title that symbolizes the coming together 'IN PEACE' of fragmented states) Bush has a chance to show the world how to live in peace and harmony, but he has chosen a more militaristic outlook to demonstrate. Although I am RABIDLY opposed to his doctrines, and WAR CRIMES (essentially), He is a human being, and one of our brothers. It is a core characteristic of humanity to show compassion. Without compassion we are no longer human beings. I would help him, and allow him to be tried for his war crimes at a later date. Maybe a show of compassion in the face of death would be enough for him to see the light. Perhaps teach HIM the value of compassion, and human life.

I Think the REAL test should be 'If you saw Osama Bin Lader, or Adolph Hitler, or a serial killer'. Are we able to show compassion even to the ones we are trained to hate and despise? Does even someone , like a serial killer who would be facing a death sentece in say 4 months, deserve the chance to be saved from the hurricane? Should he be saved now, only to die in four months anyways? Again, the issue of human life, and humanity, come into question. I'd like to see answers for THAT question!!!

Back to the original question: colour vs B&W -> If you were using a digital camera, you could post edit either colour OR black and white. Better yet... you could even super-impose yourself in the background sippin on a martini while Georgey Boy is splashing around in front of you! ;)

not to take away from your comment John, but c'mon now.. it's George W.

taking a second look at this one.. it was very similar to "ask yourself this" posted a few weeks back. So maybe the answer should be:

"Had George W. been spending his money towards saving children in Africa, as opposed to paying troops to rape the middle east for its resources, then we wouldn't be having this conversation."
